What the hemp?

My, dare I say it, ‘journey’ (anyone else *cringe* when hearing the j word? It works for this post so stick with me) with CBD oil began out of sheer desperation. I was at my wits end trying to cope with the mental/emotional, and to a lesser extent physical turmoil that PMS was putting me through month in, month out. The severity of my suffering has definitely increased with each year of ageing. Bless.

From what I affectionately call stabby rage, the kind of rage where stabbing someone seems completely plausible (#onlyhalfjoking) and the smallest thing, like a crumb on a clean bit of floor for example, can set me off on an f-bomb rampage. To the other end of the PMS spectrum; tears with all the emotions, and a 'none of you appreciate me, you ungrateful pricks' attitude to boot. Not to mention the fatigue and bloat, PMS is a big bag of dicks, nobody wants it and it aint pretty.
It was my daughter-in-law that bought CBD oil to my attention, and figuring I had nothing to lose, I got to researching, and bought some pretty soon after. There were a few criteria that were important to me before I invested:
Australian grown hemp
Small scale farm
Organically grown, or as close to
Reasonably priced (for ongoing use, I wanted an affordable option)
I embarked on this experiment with an open mind, and a healthy dose of scepticism, and started taking CBD oil about two weeks before my next cycle was due. My first cycle (using CBD oil daily), came and went fairly insignificantly. A few of the usual suspect symptoms arose, but it was an otherwise mild period party. I thought it perhaps a coincidence that I started with the CBD oil AND didn’t stab anyone this cycle; I was neither convinced nor deterred.
So, I routinely continued to take my CBD dosage, morning and night , each day. So how did I work out it works then? So glad you asked! My next few cycles came and went with little consequence. Granted, I still got bloated, fatigued and a little irritable, but it’s like the edge had been taken right off, and I was able to cruise on through it instead of wrestling with it.
The real test came when, at one point, I let my supply run low and had to decrease my dosage until my next shipment arrived, BIG mistake! That month I experienced the worst PMS symptoms I’d had in a long time. And you bet I up-sized the shit out of my order when I finally placed it. That will not be happening again.
If you’ve been curious about CBD oil and how it may be able to benefit you, from my own personal experience I can highly recommend giving it a try (obviously I am not a medical professional, and I would advise speaking with your Doc to get the low down first). I’m certainly glad I gave it a shot, and so is my family. Peace has been restored.

Some fun facts about CBD oil-
· CBD stands for Cannabidiol, a chemical compound extracted from the Cannabis Sativa plant
· CBD is both non-psychoactive & non-intoxicating with none or only trace elements of THC present
· CBD is currently used to help treat chronic pain, alleviate cancer-related symptoms, treating anxiety and depression, acne and skin conditions and used for heart health (to name just a few)
· It is not to be confused with hemp seed oil which has no CBD and is mainly used for nutritional purposes
· Queen Victoria 1837-1901 used CBD oil for menstrual cramps. If it’s good enough for the queen, it’s good enough for me.
